After having read others' reviews, I felt obligated to defend this knife. It is the best knife I've ever owned. Of course, I don't expect to use it for hunting or dressing the animals afterwards. It's a kitchen knife, and an extremely good one. It's very, very sharp and has effortlessly cut everything I've asked of it. For example, I had a block of sliced cheddar cheese (with paper between each slice) that was going moldy. I simply used the knife to cut off the outer edges (the moldy parts) of the block; it cut like a hot knife through butter. I even abused the knife somewhat to cut through the heavy plastic packaging that some products are sold in with no problems. Being ceramic, of course the knife should not be dropped or expected to cut through metal or bone (duh!). I don't regret my purchase at all. I cannot comment on the peeler, as I have not had the occasion to use it.
